Summit Kleine Salve

Hiker's paradise

The Kleine Salve with its summit at 1565 m above sea level is considered to be a well-developed local recreation destination with incredible views: Even the ride on the panoramic gondola from the valley station in Itter to the summit of the Kleine Salve gives me wonderful views of the Wilder Kaiser and the surrounding valleys. Once on the mountain, I can enjoy the 360° panoramic view from the large round seat: The nearby Brixental Valley and wide Inn Valley as well as the imposing Wilder Kaiser and its big sister, Hohe Salve, next door, invite you to enjoy newfound views.

Directly below the summit of the Kleine Salve is a crystal-clear mountain lake, which serves as a place of rest and relaxation and invites me to enjoy many hours of sunshine in the open air. The Kleine Salve is the ideal starting point for leisurely hikes in all directions: For all summiteers, we recommend scaling the most beautiful panoramic mountain in Tyrol, the Hohe Salve, which can be reached from the mountain station of the new gondola lift in around 1 1/4 hours. Easy hikes offer a variety of opportunities to stop off at cozy huts. The Kleine Salve is also a convenient starting point for the high-altitude circular trail around the Hohe Salve, which takes around two hours.

How do I get to the Kleine Salve?

  • ITTER: Salvistabahn to the top OR to the middle station/ KRAFTalm OR on foot from the village of Itter via the Schwerzerweg to the KRAFTalm and from there on to the Kleine Salve OR on foot from the valley station of the Salvistabahn up to the Kleine Salve
  • HOPFGARTEN: Salvenbahn 1+2 (to the top and from there downhill to the Kleine Salve) OR with the Salvenbahn 1 to the middle station and from here on foot to the Kleine Salve OR on foot from the village of Hopfgarten via the Außersalvenberg
  • SÖLL: Hexenwasser and Hohe Salve gondola lift to the summit of the Hohe Salve and from there downhill to the Kleine Salve

Rain on the Kleine Salve

Protected from the wind and weather, I take the Salvista cable car up to the Kleine Salve. Once there, I might catch a glimpse of its big sister, the Hohe Salve. From the Kleine Salve, I take a leisurely hike along a wide, sheltered forest path to the middle station of the Salvistabahn, where I stop off at the KRAFTalm and watch the clouds and raindrops from behind the window.
After a visit to the Kraftalm chapel, take the gondola back down to the valley.
