Astberg Trail

Start at the tourist information office in Ellmau and leave the village on the Kapellenweg. At the turnoff to the chapel park, continue straight ahead and across the ski meadow in the direction of Going, where you still walk briefly through the housing area. Immediately after the valley station of the Astberg cable car, turn right and follow trail no. 8a and the Lanzenweg towards Going. This takes you directly to the church square and on to Söllnerweg, where trail no. 7 branches off to the right towards Astberg. At first, the trail climbs gently across the meadow, gradually becoming a little steeper and alternating between a root path and a forest road up through the forest. We leave the Hollenauer Kreuz snack station on the right and continue up the forest road - until we finally reach the Astbergsee lake "from behind" via a forest trail, where we are rewarded with a fantastic view of the Wilder Kaiser. This is also the highest point of the tour, from now on it's all downhill: via the toboggan run, through the Ellmau district of Vetterstätt to the Marienkapelle chapel and through the Kapellenpark back to the village to the tourist information.
