Skiwelt Brixen im Thale
Ambitious skiers will find a wide range of pistes of varying difficulty levels in Brixen: the descent from the Hohe Salve peak (accessible via Hopfgarten or Söll) across the southern slope is a special experience but the pistes of the Kälbersalve lifts are also popular with ski carving fans. There are no fewer than three valley descents to choose from in Brixen: the ‘regular’ valley descent with numerous medium-steep slopes and exciting transitions, the unique ‘Kaslach’ natural snow descent (only open in suitable snow conditions – including several steep sections and edges) and of course, a special tip for experts: the Tanzer-Abfahrt (Tanzer Descent): one of the most beautiful valley descents in the SkiWelt. The landscapes are particularly charming and easy to enjoy. In terms of the return journey, a bus shuttle service transports adventure skiers back to Brixen valley station. And another tip: the SkiWelt gondola runs from Brixen valley station to the opposite side of the valley, at the Westendorf Choralpe. One of the most challenging pistes leads from here into the valley: the varied Kandler descent which comprises numerous transitions, wide pistes for carving and fast sections. Pure, simple pleasure.
SkiWelt Ellmau
There are many slopes for ambitious skiers to enjoy. These include the valley descent on the Hartkaiser with the legendary ‘Black East’ and numerous fantastic sections as an alternative to the standard descent – this is a particularly enjoyable experience in the morning when the pistes are still ‘fresh’ and the valley descents are generally less busy. The ‘White-Kögel’ is very popular with free-riders – an unprepared descent which runs down from the Köglbahn.
One of the most attractive Köglbahn circuits is the ‘Kaiser circuit’ covering close to 20 km of pistes and over 4000 m of altitude. Ideally the route should be started and finished in Ellmau or Going – but can be accessed from any point on the circuit.
SkiWelt Going
Particularly popular with ambitious skiers: the Astberg piste in Going – one of the most beautiful and varied slopes in the SkiWelt with some exciting changes in terrain and a broad steep piste. On the sunny side of the Astberg, skiers can enjoy the broad and medium-steep slopes – even in spring.
And those seeking a day of skiing with a genuine challenge can explore the SkiWelt lift by lift, piste by piste via the ‘Kaiser Circuit’ from Going, covering close to 20 km of pistes and over 4000 m of altitude. Ideally the route should be started and finished in Going – but can be accessed from any point on the circuit.
SkiWelt Hopfgarten
The Hohe Salve offers countless opportunities for fun skiers and experts alike: the “Südhang”, the black piste 2c that runs straight down from the summit towards Brixen and Hopfgarten is simply incomparable, especially in the morning sun. From here you also can start the Salve tour around the peaks above Hopfgarten and Söll. At 5.8 km, the run down to the valley and into Hopfgarten is also one of the longest in the entire SkiWelt.
The Hohe Salve offers all sorts of wonderful ski experiences: there is the longest slope in the SkiWelt (Hopfgarten – middle station – summit – middle station – Hopfgarten valley), or the “Marathon Route” to Itter and back (Marathon Route – Hopfgarten valley – Hohe Salve summit – Itter valley – Kraftalm – Rigi – Hopfgarten). Skiing in the morning sun is a special joy: our “Morning Special” tip is Hopfgarten valley – Hohe Salve summit – Südhang slope – Poid – middle station.
SkiWelt Itter
The SkiWelt Itter is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts who want to enjoy a holiday away from the crowds. Ambitious skiers can not only enjoy the varied, scenic run down to the valley (all the way down from the summit of the Hohe Salve), but there is above all quick and direct access to Hopfgarten and Söll with slopes with all degrees of difficulty.
SkiWelt Scheffau
Experienced skiers will find plenty of sporting challenges in Scheffau. For example, there’s the ambitious valley run: a pure delight, especially in the morning when there is little traffic on the routes down to the valley. Or the Aualm run: guaranteed powder all day long – and virtually throughout the season. It is no coincidence then that it is one of the most popular runs in the SkiWelt.
One of the most attractive SkiWelt circuits is the “Kaiser Runde”, with almost 20 kilometres of slope and over 4,000 metres cumulative elevation gain. Ideally you start it and end in Scheffau – but, of course, it is possible from any of the points along the route.
SkiWelt Söll
No question: Söll offers plenty of challenges for more advanced skiers. From the summit of the Hohe Salve, the “Black Eagle” run is breathtakingly steep and descends on the north side towards Hochsöll. A treat for very good skiers – inexperienced winter sports enthusiasts are strongly discouraged from embarking on this adventure. The south-facing slope towards Brixen is also steep and demanding, but grippier on the sunny side and easier to navigate. A pleasure for experienced skier and all those looking for a real challenge.
Söll provides the ideal slopes for anyone who enjoys carving long turns in the snow. Take the exciting undulating slopes of the Grundried lift, for example, or the descents from the Kraftalm – or even the sweeping slopes along the Keat or Siller lifts.
And those who like to go off-piste will be excited by the "Black Pipe": a ski route from the Hohe Salve to Hochsöll – more than 80% incline, great slopes. Pure adrenaline!
SkiWelt Westendorf
Advanced skiers and snowboarders will love the numerous challenges that await them on Westendorf’s pistes. Black run “Piste 112”, on the western side of the Choralpe, is the steepest run in the whole of the SkiWelt and demands nerve and skill: with an 80 percent gradient, this run is not for the faint-hearted. One of the longest and most beautiful descents also starts on the Choralpe: the Kandler run (no. 11) to Brixen. Involving many terrain transitions and steep sections, a good level of fitness here is essential. And if clocking up the kilometres is your thing, Westendorf has 4 valley descents to choose from – each one more attractive than the last.
